A group of approximately 15 volunteers was formed in 2005 to record the history of the village as far as possible because information and memories were being lost as generations were dying out.

Beckermet Station

We applied to the Heritage Lottery fund and were successful in gaining funding in order to produce a book to be given to every household in the parish.

A lot of research went into every chapter - we were able to record the memories of some people who had lived or made an impact in Beckermet.

The book was published in 2009. The title was chosen as 'A Tale of 2 Parishes, (St. Johns and St. Bridgets) A Quarter, (Lowside Quarter, Braystones) and a Tail. (Tale End Cottage, near the White Mare).
